Plainsight
A free website check for builders and businesses — leaked keys, broken link previews, slow loads and forgotten trackers, explained in plain English with the evidence.
The problem
Most website “audits” give you a score out of 100 and a sales call. The people who need a check most — solo builders shipping fast with AI tools, and small businesses whose site was built once and left — can’t tell which findings matter, or whether to trust them.
The approach
Plainsight opens a site the way a visitor’s phone does, on an everyday connection, and reads only what any browser would receive. Every finding comes from a written rule with a source, shows its evidence, and says plainly when it’s a best guess. Found secret keys are masked the moment they’re found.
The decision that mattered
Trust over coverage. New rules start as “beta” and are shown one level softer until they’ve run on a corpus of test sites without a false alarm. A wrong finding costs more than a missed one.
What I took from it
The hard part of a checker isn’t finding problems. It’s being right often enough that people act on it.
A personal project, independent of my employer.
